Excursion and meeting
Bohuslän, Sweden, 1-5 August 2001

The excursion was organized by Svante Hultengren, Lars Arvidsson, and Staffan Wall, and we were accomodated at Ljungskile kursgård just outside Ljungskile in Bohuslän, Sweden. Here follows a brief presentation of the programme:
1st August
Arrival during afternoon and evening.
2nd August
Excursion c. 8.30-16: Prov. Bohuslän, Uddevalla municipality, Skredsvik
parish, surroundings of Gullmarsberg manor.
(1) Beech forest (nature reserve!). Catinaria laureri, Bacidia rosella, Pyrenula nitida, Thelotrema lepadinum etc. (2) Solitary deciduos trees near the manor. Schismatomma decolorans, Caloplaca ulcerosa, Hyperphyscia adglutinata etc. (3) Rocks near the ruin of the castle Dynge. Leptogium corniculatum, Leprocaulon microscopicum, Nephroma parile, Peltigera species etc. (4) Gneiss outcrops with dry Pinus sylvestris forest. Arctoparmelia centrifuga, Cladonia subcervicornis, Cetraria hepatizon, Pycnothelia papillaria, Umbilicaria spodochroa etc.
Dinner 17-18. Lectures 18-19: S. Hultengren "Threatened lichens and lichen biotopes in western Sweden", and U. Søchting "Usage of DNA methods in the systematics of Teloschistaceae". Determinations. Evening coffe/tea.
3rd August
excursion c. 8.30-16: Prov. Bohuslän, Lysekil municipality, Bro parish,
Näverkärr.
(1) Old deciduous forest (nature reserve!). Lobaria amplissima , L. virens, L. pulmonaria, Degelia plumbea, Collema subflaccidum, Bacidia auerswaldii, Catinaria grossa, Strigula jamesii, Thelopsis flaveola, Schismatomma graphideoides etc. (see Arvidsson et al. 1988: Lavfloran i Näverkärrsskogen i Bohuslän; Svensk Bot. Tidskr. 82: 167-192). (2) Seashore rocks. Acarospora molybdina, Caloplaca sect. Gasparrinia (several species), Anaptychia runcinata, A. ciliaris var. melanosticta, Verrucaria maura, Ramalina siliquosa, Tephromela atra etc.
Dinner 17-18. NLF meeting with election of the new members of board 18-19. Lecture by R. Moberg "Physciaceae for the Nordic Lichen Flora" 19-19.30. Determinations. Evening coffe/tea.
4th August
excursion c. 8.30-16: Prov. Bohuslän, Kungälv municipality,
Lycke parish, island Älgön (nature reserve!).
Sea shore rocks, deciduous forests, heathland etc. Parmelina pastillifera , Umbilicaria grisea, Lobaria amplissima, L. virens, Acarospora sinopica, Lecidea silacea, Bacidia biatorina , Nephroma laevigatum, Leptogium corniculatum, Bryoria bicolor etc. Earlier also three Sticta species. This island has a very rich and varied lichen flora mentioned already by Degelius in the early thirties (Lichenologiska bidrag IV; Bot. Notiser 1932: 285-288). Several hundred lichen species are known from this locality (Arvidsson & Wall, unpublished).

5th August (morning)
excursion: Prov. Bohuslän, Uddevalla municipality, Ljungskile, the
ravine at Tjöstelseröd.
Old deciduous trees, small stream. Arthonia spadicea, Arthothelium ruanum, Biatoridium monasteriense, Gyalecta flotowii, Chaenotheca chlorella, Phaeohyscia endophoenicea, Sclerophora nivea, Thelopsis flaveola etc.
Lunch 12. Meeting closure.
