NLF is devoted to the promotion of lichenological interest in the Nordic countries, i.e., Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden. Membership is open to everyone sharing an interest in lichens. The society publishes the journal Graphis Scripta, which appears twice per year. A meeting and excursion is organized every second year. The next excursion is in 2011 and will be in Lithuania.
The board consists of representatives from each of the Nordic countries. Each country has one representative, except the country organizing the upcoming excursion, which has two.
Membership is achieved by paying the fee, currently 300 SEK, for the period 2010-2011. Members receive Graphis Scripta free of charge, but excursions are not included in the price.
